From Birth to Present

Here is a progression of photo's from birth to now of Gavin. I'll try to narrate them. This first one is just minutes after birth. Gavin was wisked away to be put under a 100 % oxygen hood as he was awaiting his ambulence ride to St Luke's NICU.
Here is Gavin at St Luke's. He is hooked up to CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) which is essentially breathing for him. He also has an IV, feeding tube, and monitoring leads attached.
Now we have had the CPAP down graded to a nasal canula which does less work for him, and basically weans him off the oxygen. The IV in his arm failed so he now has it in his head.
Gavin was born Friday at 12:48 am. By 9pm on Friday night, Grandma was here in Idaho from California to help out. I can't even express the gratitude and love I feel for her!! She was amazing, spending 10 days watching our 5 kids while Matt worked and I spent my time at the hospital with Gavin. When she left, my house was clean and all the laundry done. This was an especially fantastic feat considering I had been sick with food poisoning for 9 days before I went officially into labor. I hadn't done laundry or cleaned house the whole time I was sick and even ended up in the hospital in preterm labor due to being severely dehydrated. Matt's mom is a saint. (I already knew that though!) She was tireless and loyal, meeting our needs before we knew what they were. From the bottom of my heart...thanks Mom. Here she is the day before she left, visiting Gavin in the NICU.

Bennett loves on Gavin, who by the way was born on his 2nd birthday. Happy Birthday Bennett!!
Joey and baby Gavin , he's a lucky baby to have a bro like Joey.
Avery came and spent an entire day at the hospital with me. She thought it was "great".

Just so you can see how small he is. This is one of the 12 new preemie outfits Nana sent. They look so cute on him. Nana called religiously, everyday to check on Gavin's progress. It was such a comfort to know she was checking in. We can't wait to bring him to California in November to show him off.

Well, Gavin is 2 wks and 2 days old and doing great! Our church was awesome and brought meals the first week and our homeschool group picked up the 2nd week. We were totally blessed. Also Matt's Aunt Patty had sent some extra money to help with new baby expenses. It was a huge blessing as we had the extra expenses of gas to and from the hospital daily...which is 45 min away. Thanks to all for your prayers. Thank you, Davis family especially, for having the kids over while I was at the hospital after Matt's mom left and coordinating meals through the homeschool group and other friends.

We are so excited to have Gavin home. Everyone has asked for our new address so here goes :
